Artist Alfons Schillings rotation paintings served as inspiration for EDITH AGAYs current fashion collection, fittingly entitled ,..rotations. In his work Schilling transforms schematic three-dimensional movements onto the two-dimensional canvas. In the collection the paintings aesthetics are translated into prints and their graphic elements are used as cutting lines, thus, re-establishing and re-defining the lost dimension through the movement of the body wearing the garment.
In the exhibition this concept is taken up and expanded. Photographer Heinz Henningers images of the collection will appear as large scale projections and a live presentation of the designers pieces will amalgamate the two-dimensional paintings and the three-dimensional dresses and create a multidimensional chaos - a constant movement or rotation - of images, dresses, models and spectators that will blur the lines between reality and illusion.
