Festival organiser Ulrike Tschabitzer-Handler and Andreas Oberkanins, Unit F büro für mode
In 2010, the festival for fashion & photography will celebrate not one but two anniversaries - 10 years of Unit F büro für mode and 5 years of festival for fashion & photography.
That is why Unit F makes itself and all festival visitors a special present that is, of course, focusing on Austrian fashion.

A programme that is as diverse and wide ranging as never before with its annual highlight: the AFA-Austria Fashion Awards
gala night. Only this time, as a special treat, a fashion show of six of the most outstanding prize winners of the past ten
years will round off the event.
During the past five years, the festival for fashion & photography was built up as independent happening and as distinct brand
- a format that does not simply copy international Fashion Weeks but reacts on the citys structure and its creative
scene.
By doing so, we try to establish Vienna as an independent fashion city, not in opposition to Business centres like Paris, Milan or London but much rather including trends typical of the city and its fashion scene.
For this years festival we introduced an open Call for Entries, addressing fashion designers and other creatives within the realm of fashion. From over 60 projects a handful were included into the festivals programme, a strategy that will increasingly be pursued for future festivals and will widen the Viennese fashion spectrum represented within the festivals agenda and hence assist the events growth into a significant marketing platform.
The festivals six cornerstones - its events categories - remain the - same: Shows, Performances, Exhibitions, Fashion Talks, Parties and the presentation of Austrian fashion schools.
The festival has never been more diverse and colourful - over 100 creative minds present their work - strong vital signs of the fashion city that is Vienna.
