Vice X Wood Wood Photo Exhibition
This one's for us
Prize-winning Austrian photographer Philippe Gerlach, who has already been exhibiting his works at photokina, Cologne, and has just published his first book, studied photography at Gerhard Umhallers and Marek Freudenreichs class in Linz, until 2008. After finishing his studies Gerlach left the country to make his mark as assistent to fellow Vice photographer Tim Barber in London, before finally settling in Paris late last year.
In order to make his works also available to a domestic audience, Vice Alps and Viennas Wood Wood Store have decided to feature Gerlach in an exhibition devoted solely to him during this years 10 festival for fashion & photography. Vice, Wood Wood and Gerlach have not only been friends of long standing, they are all deeply ingrained in a subcultural scene that is repeatedly portrayed by Gerlach in all its roughness and colourful facettes. Amongst the photographs shown will be Gerlachs widely discussed Nazi spread that had already been published in last years Vice Photo Issue.
