7/6/2011: Bloom Nr. 21 FASHION
The magazine Bloom was founded by Lidewij Edelkoort in 1998 as an answer to the development of lifestyle industries which were increasingly inspired by floral trends and current influences in the areas of plants and gardening.
Bloom is the first magazine of its kind: informative and inspiring photographs and texts are combined with trend analyses and in this way demonstrate how gardening trends have influenced most different industries like fashion, interior and product design as well as cosmetics, gastronomy and culture. From the tulip-inspired couture by Dior to Kenzo's red poppies and Rodarte's floral prints - taking a look at previous seasons it becomes obvious that plants have started sprouting on garments, flowers blooming on textiles and leaves whirling on scarves.
That is the reason why Bloom dedicates its 21st issue to fashion, motives, patterns and color combinations from the world of plants and translates them into a new context. Pretty much like a bazaar, Bloom presents floral designs, colors and prints from all continents emphasizing the great impact of the horticulture on fashion.
