Since this year, everyone is talking about the Maya calendar and the predicted apocalypse Felix Groefler and Stefan Köll want to use their exhibition to ironically look into the future, more precisely into the year after the apocalypse, the year 2013. What would happen if everything went to hell in a hand basket and nothing would stay the same?
Nature’s principle is the survival of the fittest. Applied to modern western society this means that the ones that look good, wear the right designer clothes, have as much money and power as possible that are now suggested as the fittest by the media. The question arises can those people survive in a world where all that is irrelevant? How much substance do these status symbols and indicators of reputation, fame and power have in a world that is solely based on satisfying the basic needs?
