This is the first time that the private collection of Joelle Chariau (Gallery Bartsch & Chariau) has been made accessible to the public.
For more than 30 years, Joelle Chariau collected illustrations from big fashion houses and
labels such as Chanel, Dior, Poiret, Comme des Garçons, Viktor & Rolf, Lacroix and McQueen. The Design Museum now presents
these illustrations for the first time as part of the exhibition Drawing Fashion, taking visitors on a tour through 20th and
21st century fashion.
On view are works by Lepape from the start of the 20th century, Gruau in the 1940s
and 50s, Antonia in the 60s, 70s and 80s as well as illustrations by contemporary artists Mats Gustafson, Aurore de la Morinera
and Francois Berthoud.
Until 6 March you still have the chance to admire these originals.
