All of this for that presented for the first time in the form of an exhibition works by Austrian fashion photographer Jork Weismann that were created during the past five years in his collaboration with German fashion designer Kostas Murkudis. From advertising campaigns to lookbook images and never-before-published photos, the show offered a comprehensive overview of this creative cooperation.
Jork Weismann
31-year-old Austrian photographer Jork Weismann is an autodidact who was influenced early on by his father’s photography. In 1990 he moved from Gmunden (Upper Austria) to Vienna and has been publishing his work in diverse Austrian fashion magazines (Diva, Wiener, ahead) since 1994. Weismann has spent the last few years mainly in Paris and London, where he has published photographs in the top lifestyle magazines, including Dazed & Confused, Purple, Self Service and Crash. For his magazine spreads he works with stylists Desiree Heiss and Katja Rahlwes.
Kostas Murkudis
Kostas Murkudis (41) is a German citizen with a Greek background who currently lives in Munich. He launched his career in fashion in 1985 as a design assistant for Helmut Lang, where he worked until the early 1990s. In 1995 Murkudis presented his first own men’s collection, for the Japanese market, followed one year later by his women’s wear show premiere in Paris. Since September 2000, Murkudis has been new chief designer for the easy luxury label NewYorkIndustry, which is produced and sold by Staff International, a subsidiary of Diesel. Murkudis will in future head up a young, international creative team, responsible for the men’s and women’s collections, fashion shows and advertising campaigns.
