Nora Berger studied fashion at the University of Applied Arts Vienna under Raf Simons and Veronique
Branquinho. After an internship at Veronique Branquinho and at the tailoring studio dant in Lier, Belgium,
she has been working for Christina Berger since 2008.
Nora Bergers focus is on high-quality
materials and fabrics with which she creates a clear aesthetic. Her approach is both aesthetic and conceptual. Her designs
refer to the items of clothing themselves, however without neglecting the social relevance of fashion. She finds her inspiration
in the interplay between colours and shapes, in experimenting with cuts and - as with her collections produced as part of
her degree - in researching historical models and systems whose central questions she reexamines in her designs. For example,
she concerned herself with the game of chess and the automat building pioneer Jacques de Vaucanson and their core
issues: creatures as automats, war strategy as a game.
Since 2009 she is making the label NOC - Natures Of Conflict
together with Kathrin Lugbauer.
