Austrian fashion design and art in Cyprus, London and Vienna

We start with the group exhibition in Cyprus that presents eight contemporary visual artists. Amongst them is Hanna Putz, one of Austria´s most exciting young photographers who was selected as Emerging Photographer 2013 by British Journal of Photography.

As the title of the exhibition suggests, diverse approaches on forms of bodies are discussed an put into scene photographically. It is a matter of entering the body at the same time that it is a display of writing off bodies by displaying its vulnerability.

This can also be found in Hanna Putz´ portraits that oscillate between abstracted poses and a minimalistic aesthetic and by that sometimes seem to be film stills.

Anyone who cannot make it to Cyprus shoul in any case mark Hanna Putz´ next date in their calenders: On February 1, at Austrian Cultural Forum London the exhibition Another Austria, curated by Claudia Rosa Lukas will be opened! With BRADARIC OHMAE, Jennifer FM Murray, meshit, STEINWIDDER, Sophie Skach and Tina Elisabeth Reiter

a lot of our favourite designers, award-winners and nominees of the past AFA-Austria Fashion Awards and EVOQUE NextGen Awards will be part of it!

But there´s also much to see at home! For example at the exhibition Material at Viennese gallery Bechter Kastowsky that will be opened tomorrow. Part of it is amongst others Anneliese Schrenk, both known and appreciated as an artist and accessories designer. In both fields she uses leather in a great way and produces high quality bags or covers canvases with throw-outs of a leather factory.

At the very end of this first month of the new year, photographer Martin Stöbich invites you to the release party and exhibition opening of his Recycled Pictures On Recycled Paper. The cover of this limited edition publication poses the surprised-optimistic question "Where do we take this confidence from every day?". On the inside there are even more questions, snatch of talk and quotes to be discovered - printed on bare facts. Afterwards everyone celebrates at Transporter Bar.
