In his first solo exhibition the internationally successful Austrian photographer Guenther Parth showed 20 previous unreleased works. On display were still life, portrait and fashion photographs - types of photography he has been dealing with since the start of his career in the 1980s. For the fashion photographs he designed a concept together with the stylist Christoph Pirnbacher involving the Viennese fashion designers Wendy&Jim, ___fabrics interseason and students from the University of Applied Arts Vienna. The main image, a still life, was simultaneously also on display at blumenkraft.
Guenter
Parth was born in Vorarlberg, where he completed an apprenticeship as photographer. Afterwards he studied at the Graphische
in Vienna. While still a student he worked for Austrian lifestyle magazines such as Wiener and Wienerin. He was involved in
the creative magazine scene which developed in Vienna in the 1980s from which a network of photographers, stylists, graphic
designers and publishers emerged. He followed up the great success of a portrait series of the actor Gert Voss for the German
edition of Vogue magazine with projects for Vogue Homme and Miss Vogue as well as for international magazines like i-D, Esquire,
Tempo or Dazed & Confused and advertising campaigns for clients such as Stiefelkönig, Silhouette or Bank Austria. After
living in London, Los Angeles and New York he returned to Vienna where he currently lives and works. In 2002 he shot the campaign
for the Spring/Summer 2002 and Autumn/Winter 2003 collection of British designer Vivienne Westwood.
