In this issue Austrian and international photographers, illustrators, designers, artists and journalists explored the theme
Unique. Unique stands for the singular character of an individual, the one-of-a-kind quality
of an artwork, the brief moment captured by a photograph.
The selected contributors shed light on all of these aspects in this issue. Fashion designers Wendy&Jim from Vienna and Diane Pernet, a journalist in Paris, looked at the theme of hair. Elfie Semotan and Matthias Herrmann (at the time president of the Vienna Secession) lent their viewpoints as unrivalled Austrian photographers. Paul Kranzler from Linz focused his lens on Country.Youth, while Jane Audas, curator and journalist from London, described Kranzlers unusual perspective on these themes.
The illustrations for the issue were created by artist Chiara Minchio, accompanied by a text by Doris Krumpl, art critic from Vienna. Photographer Daniel Riera from Barcelona and Denyse Beaulieu, a journalist in Paris, portrayed the unconventional shoe designer duo Munoz Vrandecic from Barcelona. Antje Mayer, a journalist in Vienna, described the unique qualities of Poland, with photos by Polish artists Aneta Ggrzeszykowska & Jan Smaga rounding out this special city feature. Issue 04 was again designed by art director Albert Handler from the Vienna graphic design agency Halle 34a.
