Petar Petrov © Alexandra Heindl
Bulgarian-born Petar Petrov has been living in Vienna since 1999. He graduated from the Fashion Department at the University of Applied Arts Vienna under Raf Simons. Behind his label-like line one of some by Petar Petrov, which he attaches to every collection piece, hides the idea that every piece is a part of a whole, a part of a concept and in a certain way also a part of the designer himself.
With his regular participation in the menswear shows in Paris, Petrov has succeeded in developing a customer base in the US, Japan, Hong Kong, Berlin and Paris.
He finds his inspiration in his immediate environment and in traditional elements of fashion while consistently reflecting on his Eastern European roots in his work. My work is a radically subjective reflection on reality from the perspective of an outsider. My collection should provoke and raise questions. (...) Im interested in the encounter, not the meaning.
