Kristy Krivak completed her school education with a focus on fashion, art and technology in Slovakia. In 2005 she graduated
from the University of Applied Arts Vienna under Raf Simons. In 2003 she spent one semester in London, at Guildhall University.
The
main focus of Krivaks work is on different cutting techniques. She modifies traditional items of clothing such as the
corset or the trenchcoat as well as details such as collar and pockets through sophisticated alterations of the basic cut.
Cuts are combined and mixed, or as the designer describes it: blown up. This creates organically flowing shapes
and a formal infinity - also by leaving out the seams on the sides - which in Kristy Krivaks case means
the dissolution of the traditional silhouette. She draws her inspiration from nature (above all from butterflies and orchids)
and prefers to work with silk, wool and leather.
