Eric Rainer © Anna Aichinger
Hailing from Eisenstadt, the designer studied fashion at the University of Applied Arts Vienna under Viktor & Rolf
and Raf Simons.
Rainer traces his defining fashion experience back to the poor quality of production of childrenswear,
which was an early nuisance to him and probably influenced his choice of career. Today, fashion for him is the possibility
of turning something familiar into something unfamiliar. In his designs, he would most like to see women
who travel the world on business and never stay too long in the same place; who need modern clothes which are convenient and
always appropriate in an uncomplicated manner; women who are not interested in short-lived fashion fads. He wraps these
women in cashmere, loden, cotton and technical materials - creating an ethnically inspired look which he gives an urban twist.
