Founded in 2007 by the two curators Luca Marchetti and Emanuele Quinz/MoSIGN as a cross between fashion and art, a second edition of the fashion-art exhibition was on show in Paris in 2009 and in early summer 2010 in Berlin.
As
part of DYSFASHIONAL, internationally renowned designers and artists like Hussein Chalayan, Martin Margiela, Bless or Raf
Simons are invited to visualise the concepts their collections are based on with different media such as performances, collages,
sculptures or installations, however without fashion itself. The exhibition thus provides artistically diverse insights into
the minds of contemporary fashion designers, exploring questions of identity in an experimental setting.
With
the arrival of DYSFASHIONAL in Moscow, where the exhibition has been on show since 12 November and can still be seen until
5 December, the idea is to not only build a bridge between the Russian capital and Paris but to generally also initiate a
reevaluation of the fashion location Moscow.
Next to projects by Gaspard Yurkievich and two new objects by Russian fashion duo Nina Donis and David Koma which have been specially commissioned for the Moscow edition, works by designers including Florence Doleac, Antonio Marras, Justin Morin + Billie Mertens, Raf Simons, Marc Turlan, Maison Martin Margiela, Hussein Chalayan and Bless will also be on show.
Conceptual fashion, without fashion.
