MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK BERLIN

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin was kicked off by label A.F.VANDEVORST on Wednesday, 19 January, in the show tent on Bebelplatz. Straight after, Austrian designer Lena Hoschek presented her collection. The two hip Berlin labels, LALA Berlin (19 Jan, 6pm) and Kaviar Gauche (21 Jan, 6pm), this year once again present fashion shows in the tent.

And there have been plenty more shows outside of Bebelplatz too, including one by HUGO at Neue Nationalgalerie (20 Jan, 9pm), C’est Tout at Soho House (19 Jan, 7pm) or one by German fashion star Michael Michalsky (21 Jan, 8pm) at Tempodrom.

ESCADA Sport (19 Jan, 8.30pm) and American denim giant GUESS (19 Jan, 9pm) were the most prominent new additions this season.

On top of the numerous fashion shows, several trade shows are once again also taking place this year. Among others, BREAD & butter at former airport Tempelhof, THEKEY.TO featuring Austrians km/a, Milch and STEINWIDDER, as well as PREMIUM featuring Lena Hoschek and Mühlbauer.

Moreover, there are also several showrooms of individual labels such as WOOD WOOD as well as multi-label showrooms like PROJEKTGALERIE SHOWROOM, this year once again featuring mangelware. Trikoton, who also participated in last year’s 10 festival for fashion & photography, have their showroom at Torstraße 68. The Edged pop-up store is set to open only a few doors down, where jewellery design by AND_i is on sale.

Expressly for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin, the MoMu, the Belgian Fashion Museum Antwerp and Mercedes-Benz have commissioned Belgian art director Frederik Heyman and four fashion designers - Bernhard Willhelm, Peter Pilotto, Henrik Vibskov and Mikio Sakabe - to design four installations. The results are now on display during Fashion Week as part of the exhibition RECOLLECTION QUARTETT together with iconic models of the car manufacturer.
