The Swiss Textiles Award isnt considered one of the most important international fashion awards for upcoming designers for nothing. Previous winners of the award include names like Raf Simons, Christian Wijnants, Rodarte or Marios Schwab, who won the award in 2007. Intended as an efficient career starting aid, the Swiss Textiles Award is worth an incredible 100.000,00 EUR. This money is given in the form of PR work, show or collection productions etc.
Next to labels Erdem, Alexis Mabille, Ohne Titel, Thakoon Panichgul and Alexander Wang, this years nominated finalists also include Peter Pilotto. After numerous celebrities such as Rihanna had already been photographed wearing Peter Pilotto, America's First Lady Michelle Obama was recently also spotted at a public event in a Pilotto design.
On 12 November an international jury chaired by Lisa Feldmann, editor-in-chief of lifestyle magazine annabelle, will announce the winner at the Stella Contemporary Fashion Award 2009 show in Zurich. Creativity and innovative power are as much prerequisites for winning this award as commercial viability and market potential. Special guests of the evening will be last years award winners, Rodarte, as well as Isabel Toledo, who will show their latest collections.
We would like to wish Peter Pilotto best of luck!
