Bettina Reichl

Bettina Reichl attended the Fashion Institute Vienna / Schloss Hetzendorf and has been working as a freelance fashion designer since 1987. In 1990 she founded the fashion platform, Design & Co, together with other designers, and since 1993 she has also been working in the field of packaging design. She then (co)founded the Girl & Men Shop Pell Mell in Graz where she sells the designs of her label Odrowąż. At the centre of her work is the experimenting with cuts usually based on simple geometrical shapes that are wrapped and draped around the female body. Jersey and knits result in a smoothly flowing line which is in part also complemented by structural elements made from stiffer materials.
The designs should, at the same time, appear archaic, modern, monkish and erotic, drawing on the pool of traditional forms of clothing of various peoples (cape, hood, veil) as well as on the sporty-futuristic style of the ‘60s (overall, helmet, bikini).
