Unit F ~PROJECT > CONNECTED CONNECTED Group exhibition on dutch design 13 09 2001 26 10 2001 Connected is the working title for the project Gustaf Beumer will curate in collaboration with Unit F. In the last years an extremely interesting and lively fashion scene has emerged in the Netherlands, Amsterdam and Arnhem have established themselves as centres. In spite of the proximity to Paris and London, it has been possible to develop clear and authentic aesthetics. This differentiated style is mainly founded on a very nonconformist working method. Young fashion designers have been forming a network with photographers, graphic designers, architects, media designers, art consultants and artists, resulting in a very characteristic formal and visual language. The exhibition Connected will focus on current cross-overs between fashion, art and industrial design in the Netherlands. As an example, Gus Beumer will use his latest project as a sort of reference for the show in the Unit F ~SPACE, a project on which he is working since one year together with his colleagues Alexander van Slobbe/SO and Angelique Westerhof/Arnhem Fashion Institute. The project is based in the centre of Amsterdam and will be a cross-over between shop, gallery, fashion institute and several studios, which will be opening at the beginning of 2002. |
