Unit F SUPPORT aims to enhance the professionalisation and the internationalisation of the Austrian fashion design scene. This happens in general through offering consulting advice concerning design-relevant questions in the realms of production, distribution and communication.

In particular Unit F in cooperation with the Federal Ministry for Education, the Arts and Culture and the City of Vienna's Department for Cultural Affairs provides an efficient and long-term strategy for promoting fashion design in Austria. The focus hereby lies on projects whose qualitiy is juged by an independent jury with regard to an international fashion scene.
Projects and catalogue publications are subsidised with a total sum of approx. EUR 115,000.00 per year. In addition to cash prizes, Austrian designers and their careers are promoted on a long-term basis by the Austrian fashion awards.
The subsidies granted by Unit F SUPPORT are not just in recognition of outstanding achievements, they also provide concrete measures for developing career strategies. The financial support is to promote designers at different stages of their careers, therefore both emerging as well as already established designers have the chance to apply for the various subsidies.

In addition to these financial supports, privately funded prizes have been awarded since 2002 in order to resume the pormotion of designers on the private-sector.
