MODEBUCH - Contemporary Fashion from Austria

Fashion is a fleeting moment. A book, in the best of all possible cases, is a document for eternity. Presenting fashion in book form can be nothing more than a snapshot. However it is a permanent one and as such it is a key to gaining an understanding of the aesthetic feeling of a generation.

With this book, the Unit F büro für mode has aimed to give an impression of the complexity of Austrian fashion creation since the 80’s, and to document the national and international networks that develop in the fashion system.
Although the point of departure of the book begins in Austria, the aim is to trace international design careers. And because fashion as a cultural phenomenon serves to reflect stylistic changes, the topic is approached via different styles. In addition to interviews, features and photographic editorials, the book features essays and portraits. In text and image form, contemporary Austrian fashion is accordingly presented as part of a densely woven network.
