The working title of the project - THE SPACE - aims to reinterpret the existing space by creating a new spatial frame. The objective of the architectonic intervention is the creation of a dynamic, freely-moving space. Putting an architectonic element in the former shop on street level fulfills the demands stated by Unit F (office and archive) and signals the new utilization of the object.

A textile element combining several functions such as visual and sun protection, room division and creation of zones, respectively, was developed. This element comprises the new room and consists of two webs of cloth, a vertical one across the walls and a horizontal one as element for the ceiling. Due to the central wall of the house the room is divided into two parts. This division is suspended by the fusion of the new and freely moving textile room, a spatial frame - THE SPACE - is created. The material, perforated canvas cover, emphasizes the temporal character of the project and is used not only because of its association with fashion, clothing and skin, but also for it being the most economic solution.

The geometry of - THE SPACE - is freely associated; it creates a perspective space and fulfils the functional demands. The transparent membranes divide the working area from the functional infrastructure and the storing area. These zones can be accessed by partly vertically moving sliding doors.

On the lower floor, i.e. the prospective exhibition and event areas, all existing walls have been cleared and covered with screens only at specific points, so that the rooms are open for artistic interventions.

Apart from these functional demands the architecture demonstrates the way the newly founded institution sees itself and serves as a marketing instrument and projecting space. Material and form evoke connections with fashion, design and graphic design.
