Since the invention of the moving images, fashion and film have been connected by a glowing adoration for each other. Fashion nurtures and inspires cinematic ideas of glamour; film stars are wooed by fashion designers and in turn embody their vision on the red carpet.

In the course of the 12 festival for fashion & photography, fashion in motion takes place for the very first time – a festival for fashion films with the focus on Austrian cineastes and photographers.

Fashion designer Maria Steiner, art historian Raphaela Radl and fashion photographer Verena Ritzengruber initiated this project and started an international call for entries. Their motivation lies in their own work as well as the fact that up to now a platform for this young genre and its creatives does not exist in Austria.

A jury, covering the aspects photography, film studies and fashion, out of all submitted films chooses the best ones that will be presented at Schikaneder.
