Insider Vienna: Pinie Wang

How does Vienna sound?

Vienna is known as the world music city. From classical up to club music. During the last five years there was an increase in nightlife locations: Pratersauna, Grelle Forelle, Chaya Fuera, Motto am Fluss… This tendency makes Vienna young and modern.

What kind of music would be on your turntables at a party at the Museum of Applied Arts?

Today, the MAK is more than a museum. Nowadays you can experience fashion shows and clubbing there. I would use progressive, electronic music like for example Alex Metric, Sbtrkt and Amtrac.

A night at Eden Bar – what music would you be playing?

The American Crooner music of the 30ies and 40ies would fit to the glamorous and oldest champagne bar in Vienna.

Where in Vienna are you enjoying a good breakfast after a long night behind the DJ booth?

Personally the best breakfast is at Orient Occident at Naschmarkt. I especially recommend the Turkish breakfast with goat cheese, olives, tomatoes, cucumber and scrambled eggs with spicy Turkish cured beef.

We are up for some art – Recommend a current exhibition in Vienna!

Jewish Geniuses – Warhol’s Jews. Still exhibited at the Misrachi-House of the Jewish Museum till September 2nd 2012.

You want to enjoy a relaxed dinner with your friends. Where are you going?

The Motto in the 5th district offers a great selection of unusual courses and drinks till late at night. My recommendation: Steak in chocolate sauce with tangerine-rosemary sparkling wine.

If you are looking for a DJ outfit, which store in Vienna are shopping at?

Common People in the 7th district offers a big selection of Swedish brands. Moreover, Bruno the Mexican store owner gives great advice.

Finally, please give us a music tip, which every Vienna visitor should know!

You should have seen the Fluc at Vienna Praterstern. A group of artist has founded and established the Fluc 10 years ago and turned a passage underground into a concert and nightlife location.
